Numberjacks Birthday Cake

As you may have guessed this cake was for a 3rd Birthday. The birthday boy was a fan of the children's TV programme 'Numberjacks' - so a big 3 was put on the top. This was made out of icing and was surprisingly more difficult to shape than I expected! It wasn't until the eyes and nose went on that it actually looked like the character.

To make the little Numberjacks I used my usual number cutters and put eyes on the icing. This was fiddly to do but not as bad as if I decided to shape them all too! The balls around the side of the cake match the colours of the 10 Numberjacks characters.

Princess Peppa Pig

This cake was more involved than the other two Peppa Pig cakes due to the crown and the wings. The cake started off as a 12" square and I was able to cut it to obtain all the sections you can see here. In future I would use a 16" square board instead of the 14" I used, in order to give myself a bit more space for laying out the cake.
I have used the 'official' picture of Princess Peppa as my template but varied it by changing the background to a pale blue in order to allow the pink to stand out more. I was also requested to make it glittery and so as you can see there is a lot of shine/sparkle to this cake. The sponge is lemon with a lemon buttercream.

Peppa Pig

This is a cake I made for a friends daughter. I used a 12 inch square tin to make the cake, which I then placed my template on top. (I drew the template myself using images off Google). It was a vanilla sponge with a jam layer, covered in buttercream and regal icing. I used royal icing to pipe the design and edible pens to write happy birthday and the name. Having never made a cake like this before I did find it difficult however I am very pleased with the outcome.
